Lying to the far west of Centre Earth, beyond Bishovaya and the Neostacian Sea, Ashokka is a long, large island.
The peoples there are fierce and warlike, but also gifted craftsmen and women, artists, song-writers and story-tellers. They are distantly related to the Haniol and the Valerese, however more settled and cultured. Long years of isolation has seen a distinctive culture flourish.
The various chieftains spend much of their time waging limited war on each other.
Their people are warrior-farmers armed predominantly with javelins and spears. The richer members of society ride to war on swift chariots and also carry long swords and shields, armour is quite rare. Heroic challenges and deeds are more common and highly praised.
For an island nation they have very little sea-craft, their round flat-bottomed boats being unsuitable for long sea voyages. The exception are the people of the unrelated Vikingur settlement who possess a few long-ships that are ocean going vessels. The Vikingur have better armour and weapons including bows and axes.
