A small mountainous kingdom consisting of several inter-dependent tribes.

The most powerful tribe is the Madeconi who are the most numerous, organised and literate. Other tribes include the Trecani, herdsmen and skilled javelin throwers, the Gapi, excellent horsemen and the Ragi, a kind of warrior cult who have served the Madeconi kings and queens loyally for countless generations.

The Avorese field a small highly professional army. Their foot soldiers include a strong phalanx of pike-men supported by elite spear-men. Their cavalry are built around the king’s elite lance armed companions supported by other very capable horse.

The capital, Petta, is the only city.

The Avorese are not especially spiritual but do worship a number of gods. They keep hidden and aloof from the human societies on the plains below.

The mountains surrounding the kingdom can be seen from many different lands. Few cross them anymore, the plains people are afraid of the Avorians and their mountains and mostly keep their distance. However the Avorians are a vigilant and diligent people and they keep watch and pay attention still to the world of men beyond.
