Pictbite is a tribal kingdom. Its people are ethnically distinct from most Battalogians and have close links to Scotbite, although Pictbites are not as divided and see themselves as guardians of an older way of life.
Their army are warrior-farmers who are both fierce and brittle. they have bowmen armed with a unique type of crossbow, their horsemen ride nimble ponies and skirmish with javelins from a distance. All their warriors use blue dye to cover themselves in protective tattoos before going into battle.
They are poorer than other Battalogian states and therefore can afford less armour, chain mail being rare, where it is common elsewhere.
The Pictbite belief systems are strongly aligned with spirits and nature, placing them closer to the Valerians and the even wilder Haniol than to the monotheistic Guddhian church of Battalogia proper.
