Bishovaya

A map of Bishovaya

The island state of Bishovaya is a mercantile society. The head of state is the Emperor although there are very strong merchant and theocratic groups at court who wield considerable influence.

The term “Bishovayan” has become a byword for complexity and trickery. Sayings such as “beware a Bishovayan bearing gifts” also give some indication of how their neighbours view them.

The army is small but professional and highly trained. It consists of spear men supported by archers and heavily armoured cavalry armed with both lance and bow.

A strong mercantile fleet is protected by a small but professional fleet of warships.

The Bishovayans are ethnically close to the Mistanians but have a completely different culture indicating that there are other influences on their development.
