The Republic of Stim sits in the highlands between Dalvor and the Mistanian States.
It is ruled by the Senate. Any person with a certain degree of wealth is entitled to sit in the Senate and debate the issues of the day. In times of trouble the Senate votes to appoint two Consuls who exercise power on alternate days until the crisis has abated.
All citizens are required to serve in the army. These solid foot soldiers form three lines of battle, the youngest in the first, the experienced in the second and the veterans in the third. The first and second are armed with a heavy throwing spear that bends upon impact, making it hard to remove from shields and impossible to throw back. The third line is armed with long thrusting spears. All have good shields and helmets and either sturdy leather or iron armour. The senate generally can afford to provide their own horses and therefore provide the small cavalry contingent. They fight with spear, javelin and sword. All troops carry a short pointed sword that is sharp on two sides and is used to stab or slash, and are extremely good at wielding it.
Teenagers generally serve as light troops, skirmishing ahead of the main body with javelins.
The people are gifted engineers and can swiftly build roads, bridges, aqueducts and fortifications. They like things organised and structured.
